USTC ANNOUNCES SQUEEZMO™ TEA SQUEEZE NEW PRODUCT WINNER AT WORLD TEA EXPO

Squeezmo™ tea into your life with brilliant color and table friendly attitude

CHICO, CA. – June 11, 2010 – USTC announces the launch of the Squeezmo™ Tea Squeeze, a winner of the World Tea Expo® New Product Award, Accessory category. The Squeezmo™ Tea Squeeze was chosen from more than 100 product entries for the New Product Awards at the World Tea Expo®.

The Squeezmo™ Tea Squeeze is a clever solution to squeeze the essence and moisture from a tea bag, to hide the unsightly tea bag from saucer or tableware and to allow drip-less tea bag use to brew multiple cups of tea.

The inventor and designer of the Squeezmo™, James “Jim” Kerner, has been involved in building relationships between friends in Russia and the U.S. (focused on education) since 1999 and has made over 20 trips to Russia. Tea is always served during discussions with teachers, and at one such meeting Jim paid particular attention to the style of tea service they used. When sharing tea with teachers at school or with friends at home, Jim observed the same routine: hot water was served from a teapot while a selection of teabags was made available for personal choice; the tea bag was dipped in the cup to brew, and then placed in the saucer for multiple cups of tea.

It was a common observation that when the cup was raised to the lips, the tea on the bottom of the cup would drip on the table, the cloth and the lap because the soggy tea bag had released a pool of tea in the saucer and transferred to the cup. Jim often says that “every product is a solution to a problem,” and in this case he thought how to solve “tea dripping from the cup.” At the same time, he noticed the many tea extraction techniques such as wrapping the string around the tea bag to squeeze the essence into the cup and pressing the bag against the side of the cup with a spoon. There are lots of styles and methods for manipulating the tea bag after it has brewed a cup of tea, but Jim evolved one design as an overall solution to squeezing, hiding and reusing a tea bag while eliminating dripping.

“We are excited to bring a creative and affordable new product to the Expo. Our Squeezmo™ Tea Squeeze has proven to be very useful for all tea drinkers who brew tea with bags, bringing a different dimension to the tea experience by encapsulating the unsightly used tea bag and eliminating the nuisance of tea drips,” said Jim Kerner. “Dozens of our Russian friends were amongst the first to test and enjoy our Squeezmo™ product. We look forward to the Squeezmo™ catching the attention of many buyers around the world who want to affordably enhance the tea drinking experience.”

The final designs, both a silicone and porcelain means of removing the essence and moisture from a tea bag, resulted in a utility patent. The Squeezmo™ solution is an eye-catching and fun table-top accessory made of U.S. FDA silicone that is also dishwasher safe. It’s easy-to-use and a perfect size for tea bag designs from traditional to pyramid, small to large.

The Squeezmo™ Tea Squeeze can be seen and will be sold at www.squeezmo.com, but with such a bright future, this Squeezmo™ product should be available through small specialty shops, catalogs, house wares, grocery and many other retail venues. For more information, visit www.squeezmo.com.
